The unnamed masterplanned community of workforce housing being developed in Elizabethtown, Kentucky was necessitated by the future opening of Ford’s BlueOval SK battery plant in the city which will bring thousands of new workers to the area. The masterplanned community of four different living developments (including a 55+ community) needed a brand and marketing strategy to help separate and elevate its offerings above other competing living options. Paying homage to the forthcoming battery plant, we worked with existing electrical community and street names to name and position the master community Ampere. The visual branding represented both a battery and alternating current while secondary visual elements referenced electrical diagrams to create a cohesive, energetic, brand.

Ampere is the collection of three garden communities, single family rentals, and retail that are being built over a period of four years. As part of the branding strategy we took the first garden community, The Joule, and placed it under the masterplanned community brand Ampere and then created brands for the other communities and retail within the newly named Ampere.
